  • The Twinkies topped with red frosting to look like hot dogs
  • and MORE!

Here’s what Christy said about planning the party- “My Grandpa, or ‘Pappa’ as my kids call him, lives to play baseball. Every year my grandparents fly from Seattle to Mesa, Arizona for the winter specifically for my Grandpa to be able to play on his softball team. At 79, he sometimes plays three games a day! It’s his love of the game that inspired me to throw him this 79th Vintage Baseball Birthday party.

This party was created on a very small budget with only a few days to plan, so I borrowed as much decor as possible, kept the sweets simple and made the most of the printables!

Glass Coke bottles and striped straws with our mini baseball pennants in a vintage soda crate made for picture perfect and cost effective party favors.

With no time to bake and a tight budget, the dessert table treats included Twinkies with a bit of red icing that became “hot dogs on a stick”, Starbucks cake pops and Golden Oreos dipped in white Wilton Candy Melts and piped with red buttercream to resemble baseballs and of course Cracker Jacks and Popcorn which are a must have for any baseball event. I was able to pick up popcorn bags at my local craft store as well as a roll of brown packaging paper for a table runner and red polka dot balloons which added a lot of bang for my buck. I reused some paper fans I had from last years fourth of July celebration as well. Red and white carnations from the local grocery store rearranged into a baseball like centerpiece with color coordinated ribbon trim provided a centerpiece for under ten dollars.

Overall the party was inexpensive, stress free and fun! Most importantly my grandfather had a great time and was able to enjoy a little baseball even though his playing season was over for the year.”
