This adorable BOOKWORM SEVENTH BIRTHDAY PARTY was submitted by Gerri and Carole of Little Birdie Events in Australia.
There are so many cute ideas used in this Bookworm party. I especially love the blue and white color scheme; it looks so elegant and simple.
My favorite Bookworm party ideas and elements from this birthday celebration are:
- The bookworm sugar cookies
- The lemon meringue tarts
- The fun bookworm cake
- The cute cupcake toppers
- The coconut ice
- The library card invitation
- and MORE!

Party Details:
This is what Gerri and Carole said about planning the party-
“We’re very excited to exclusively share this delightful “Book Party” we styled for a little girl, Dunya, who turned 7 last month.
Dunya requested a dessert table featuring two of her favourite things – (1) books, and (2) the colour blue! So, the Little Birdie girls set out to create something elegant, yet appealing for a young crowd, a table incorporating books and book-related items (e.g. bookworms, plaques, owls, typewriter-like font, etc.). We were keen to celebrate Dunya’s favourite colour, light blue, yet with a girly twist.
Backdrop
The backdrop was designed by Li-Ann from Ham&Pea Design&Paperie after we sent her an example of the chocolate wrappers we had designed for Dunya, which used the ombre blue stripes with clean strips of white in between. We love it, and so did Dunya!
Sweets
Jen from A Little Slice of Heaven made the most gorgeous “bookworm biscuits” – aren’t they wonderful? Jen made the beautiful little bookworms with darling flowers, sitting atop three separate books (stacked slightly askew to resemble a natural pile of books) in the ombre blues from our colour palette. We also loved the elegant “D”-plaques she created for the delicious vanilla bean cupcakes. Jen also makes to most delicious coconut ice – she created soft blue and white coconut ice especially for this table.
Coby from Taart made the vanilla bean custard tarts adorned with fresh blueberries, lemon meringue tarts, and lime and coconut slice.
Trish from Marche du Macaron made the fabulous blue macarons (based on our colour palette) in her famous decadent salted caramel flavour.
Candies for the table included blueberry clouds, bookworm lollies, blue raspberry bon bons and toffee bon bons.
We covered boxes of Junior Mints in beautiful light blue paper and affixed a personalised “Dunya’s Library” sticker we designed to each box. Junior Mints are a favourite sweet of Dunya’s mummy!
Cake
Dunya’s Aunty made her the cake of her choice – a scholarly owl sitting on top of a big pile of books.
Details and Stationery
We believe the delight is in the details. For this dessert table we covered hardcover books in coordinating light blue opalescent paper to use as risers. The same paper was used to cover the boxes of Junior Mints and other risers.
As described above, we designed a personalised sticker for the wrapped Junior Mints – “Dunya’s Library”. We also created coordinating personalised “Thank You” stickers for favour boxes.
The food labels incorporated a fanciful plaque design to off-set the “serious” typewriter and stamp font (as you would find in a library!).
The stickers coordinated perfectly with the invitations we designed for Dunya’s party guests. These were based on the old-school-style library card, and included this dessert table’s signature ombre blue design to coordinate with the blue theme.
Creating this special dessert table for Dunya was an enjoyable and rewarding experience for us. We are delighted to be able to share this with you exclusively, and we hope you enjoy looking through the photos we took.”
